The law does not grant parents an automatic right to take their child out of school during term time. If the request is for an absence in term time you must have Parental Responsibility and be the parent with whom the child normally lives.
Permission must be sought in advance and must be for exceptional circumstances. If you are applying for leave of absence for your child during term time please complete and return the form to Mr McCormack, Headteacher.
Parent/Carers who take their child/children on holiday during term term will receive a fine issued by the local authority. If you’re issued with a penalty notice, you must pay:
- £80, if it’s paid within 21 days of receiving the notice
- £160, if it’s paid after 21 days but within 28 days
