Anti-Racist Statement- Oldfield Primary School

Oldfield Primary School is committed to being an anti-racist and inclusive school where all children, staff, and families feel safe, valued, and represented. Our school community celebrates diversity, promotes equity, and challenges discrimination in all its forms.

As educators, we recognise the vital role we play in ensuring that society is more equitable. We are committed to making positive changes for this generation and those that follow through actively teaching our children the values of compassion, kindness and empathy. Through these values we teach children an appreciation for and respect of differences, to be thoughtful about our behaviour and to be kind to everyone.

Understanding the profound impact of discrimination, we maintain a proactive approach to education by continuously reviewing our policies and curriculum. Our goal is to provide a comprehensive and balanced education that allows children to explore themes of inclusion and equity in age-appropriate ways. Through this, students learn about the history of societal structures, recognize the importance of balance and fairness, and discover opportunities to contribute positively as global citizens.

Racism has no place in our school, and we take a proactive approach to educating, identifying, challenging, and dismantling racist attitudes and behaviours. At Oldfield Primary, we stand together as one school, one big community, committed to nurturing an environment where everyone belongs and thrives.

“Anti-racism is the commitment to fight racism wherever we find it, including in yourself.  And it’s the only way forward.”
